
COVID -19 in the Amazon: How NOT to let a Crisis go to Waste
The Corona crisis in Brazil, with the health system collapsing in the Amazonian city of Manaus, and victims buried in mass graves, is even more devastating for the indigenous communities, who are twice more susceptible to die than the general population. There is the challenge of getting public health information to isolated villages to prevent its spread and “social distancing” could be difficult in their culture.
